This past Thursday we celebrated the five year anniversary of our first blind date. Andrew surprised me with an awesome dinner at the Georgian at the Fairmont Hotel where we had a fabulous dinner (best gourmet meal we've had in Seattle thus far!) and then went to a concert at Seattle's Benaroya Hall featuring country singer Dwight Yoakam (who I'd never heard of), but luckily it was a dancin' crowd, so I got to dance the entire time!
The Georgian:
Glamorous old-fashioned style
Dwight Yoakam: High energy, uber talented guy with a young band, kind-of cheesy, but in a fun way

So, our blind date began on Thursday, September 13, 2007 - a Thursday night - I rushed home from work changed in 20 minutes and ran out the door to meet Andrew at Vintner Grill. I was more excited than nervous because I was SO ready for a change and after having just gotten out of a really traumatic relationship, it was time for someone new.
So, I walked in the door and immediately noticed him standing at the bar by himself. We had a couple of drinks and then, things were going so well that we ended up having dinner together too.

The thing about our conversation that stands out is when the server presented our bread options, and Andrew declined, he went into a lengthy explanation about his celiac disease. It still makes me laugh, because I could tell how uncomfortable he was explaining his bread issues. Andrew says the thing that stuck out to him, was that he was impressed with my maturity (I was 25 - he was 35) and my work ethic (my work-a-holic nature still gets the best of me).
After that - Vintner Grill became our "go-to" and Jose, the bartender, became our favorite. It's still my favorite place - I just wish we had something similiar up here in Swell-Vue. I love thinking about that day beause it was so special and so perfect. I am also incredibly grateful and lucky to have a husband that likes to celebrate the little moments in our relationship and he remembers the exact dates and places they occurred. I am one lucky gal!
