After spending some time just outside of Rochester, we headed toward Woodstock, NY. As you may know, my husband is very particular about his music and music history. I have come to learn that the Woodstock festival was not actually held in Woodstock, NY - instead it was held in a large field about 45 minutes away. The reason we came to Woodstock is because there is a very special barn belonging to Levon Helm here. Levon died a few months ago and so, naturally, in our household we must come to pay our respects to Levon and the big pink house. It's somewhat weird and strange, but this is what I now do to honor my wonderful husband and his bizarre music taste :)
So, Woodstock here we come.
Here is Rick Danko's grave - member of the beloved band, The Band. The internet told us that Levon Helm was buried nearby Rick's grave. But, we soon came to find that this was a lie.
Levon's special gravesite complete with a lovely wall built just for him.
Levon's nameplate.
And, a special deer paying tribute.
Levon's grave was our first stop in Woodstock. Second, was checking into our quaint little hotel by a lovely millstream.
On this night we had an awesome dinner at The Bear Cafe - we HIGHLY recommend it if you happen to go visit Woodstock. Andrew thinks I look like a bug in this picture. Nice huh?
Then, while I was taking a short nap in the car, Andrew decided to trespass and take us into restricted territory to take a look at Big Pink. Look it up on the internet.... it's a place where music tales are told.
