Immediately, I knew it was going to be a bad burn and her palm began getting very red and I knew I needed to rush Scarlett to the emergency room. We headed to Overlake Hospital and in retrospect, I wish we had gone to Harborview Burn Center. But, at Overlake, they referred us to a plastic surgeon the next day who then told us to go to Harborview.
Once we were at Harborview Burn Center the next day, we got the treatment we needed from the experts for Scarlett's 2nd and 3rd degree burns. We really grew an appreciation for the wonderful nurses and caretakers at the burn center and they took wonderful care of her. For the next several weeks, we went to Harborview for checkups and her hand has healed so beautifully. It's still not fully healed, two months later, but we are grateful for her treatment and the care she received. It was a scary experience, and we learned how quickly these little ones can get into anything!
Just a couple of weeks ago we got the official discharge paperwork for Scarlett and her burn! We were so happy and relieved that she will heal!
