Memorial Day Weekend on Hood Canal

With our house still under construction, it has been especially grueling. We needed a getaway - a retreat from the chaos of our everyday living lately. Last year, Andrew and I stopped by Alderbrook Resort to check it out and fell in love with the setting - we vowed to be back. Memorial Day weekend seemed like the perfect opportunity to stay there and enjoy a getaway without too much of a hassle.

The Alderbrook is in Union, Washington on Hood Canal and is a gorgeous setting. Even though it was overcast this weekend - it was incredibly relaxing. Scarlett loved it too as she has been on the brink of walking. On our way back into Seattle, we enjoyed a Memorial Day ceremony at Washington Memorial Cemetery which was a great way to begin teaching Scarlett about the meaning behind the holiday and honoring those who have served and passed.
