I cherished my time off with Scarlett - all 20 weeks of it. I feel so grateful for the time off that my work gave me. It was precious time that I valued so much.
On maternity leave one of the most important things that I did was join the Overlake Hospital "after baby comes" support group. It is run by a nurse and I cannot imagine not having that support once Scarlett arrived. I went every week, learned so much about my growing baby, and got the support I needed. I also made some dear friends whose babies are the same age as Scarlett.
I also enjoyed some mommy meetup groups and moms walking groups. I walked several miles every day - down to Bellevue Square Mall, down to the Bellevue Park and everywhere in between. It really helped my psyche immensely and helped me acclimate to new motherhood.
