Check out the mist...
Our hotel rooms was a nice surprise because when we arrived on the Canada side of the border the scene was cheesy to say the least, but we ended up with a great room a jacuzzi tub!
After we checked in, we took the walk down to the falls to see them at night. People were camped out on the grounds overlooking the falls waiting hours ahead to see the fireworks.
What was surprising for me is that I'd always imagined just one giant fall, not a split view with American falls and Canadian falls. Here are the Canadian falls, which are the most dramatic with a curved fall line.
This is the view of the American falls with the bridge in the backdrop.
Here we are, taking it all in.
After our walk down to the falls, we headed out to dinner and had an amazing view overlooking the fireworks. A perfect view and so romantic!
The next day, we headed over to the American side of the falls for a different view. I took this picture while we were waiting in the long border crossing line.
This overhang is really dramatic, but even more so when you're on it!
What I was most surprised by was the lack of netting or guard rails. It would be so easy and quick to fall in and then over the ledge. Very dramatic sight.
Even more beautiful with a rainbow:
Isn't this just breathtaking? Wow - quite an incredible drop - beautiful and yet, so dangerous at the same time.
And of course, we couldn't leave Buffalo without Buffalo wings, so we stopped at Gabriel's Gate and Andrew gave his celiac disease a run for it with 17 chicken wings and orange lips to prove it.
